Will Obama’s second term see an end to the failed ‘war on drugs’? | Sadhbh Walshe | Comment is free | guardian.co.uk.
I just can’t believe the ignorance of Prohibition persisting after its miserable failure almost 100 years ago. Just incredible!
Why? Just follow the money…. Big Pharm, Liquor industry, law-enforcement industry, prison guards, etc, etc. A lot of cops would either have to fight REAL crime or be out of work. The DEA would be disbanded. Prisons would no longer be overcrowded with harmless inmates. But, of course, they powers that be will not decriminalize it for these reasons….. Truly sad that people lack the freedom to choose what they ingest or how they medicate themselves. People should be judged on what they DO, how they interact with society, and whether or not they pose any threat to society, NOT by what they ingest in the privacy of their own homes!
